BNP Paribas Real Estate has announced the appointment of Barbara Knoflach as global head of Investment Management. She will start her new work by summer 2015.
Knoflach will be responsible for defining the strategy for the business line and lead its execution through almost 300 employees in eight countries: France, Italy, Germany, United-Kingdom, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands.
Knoflach moved from SEB Asset Management AG where she was CEO since 2005. Previously, she held the position of managing director of the investment company SEB Investment GmbH from June 1999, after she joined the SEB Bank group in 1994.
She began her career at Deutsche Bank AG’s International Project Financing unit in Frankfurt am Main then was appointed at the Consulting and Research department of the bank’s real estate subsidiary.
Knoflach served as chairman of the Board of Directors of Afire (Association of foreign investors in real estate), and as member of the board of BVI (German investment funds association).
She is a member of the Executive Board of ZIA (the German property federation) and of the International Advisory Board for Reai (Real estate academic initiative) at Harvard University.

In 2014, BNP Paribas Real Estate’s investment management business line raised more than €1.7bn of new cash in 2014. At the end of 2014, it managed €20.3bn of assets in Europe, of which institutional investors accounted for 79%.
