Ann Marie Regal, a Singapore-based wealth manager with Dubai-headquartered Globaleye who specialises in looking after American expatriate clients, is one of three winners of PanPlus’s annual Global Financial Planning Awards.
It was the second time in a row Regal, pictured, has won the award.
The other two winners were Rose Swanger, of Knoxville, Tennessee -based Advise Finance, LLC, who was chosen as the Americas region overall winner; and David Reed, of Australia’s Retirement Advice Centre, who took the prize for the Europe/Australia region.
Like Regal, Swanger has also won the award previously, in 2014.
In a statement, PlanPlus said the Americas Region competition was so close that Conrad Toner, of True North Retirement Counsel in Peterborough, Ontario, and Hyder Hassan, of Canadian Western Bank in Calgary, Alberta, were both named first runners up.
The first runner up in the Asia Region was Roy Varghese, a certified financial planner with iFast Financial, Singapore.
Natalia Smirnova, a Moscow-based financial adviser who was the 2015 Europe/Australia winner, was announced as first runner up in that region this year, with Alexander Gerth, the 2016 Germany national Financial Planning Awards winner, named as second runner up.
The PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards were launched four years ago by PlanPlus, a provider of financial and investment planning software equipment and training services, to “recognise the importance of financial planning” in society, and are awarded to individuals in three regions only: the Americas, Asia and Europe/Australia.
Entrants are required to submit a written financial plan that had actually been used and presented to a client, which was then judged on how well it delivered advice and addressed the individual client’s best interests. Finalists then were required to give live presentations of their plans to a judging panel of top planning experts from around the world.
Regal, who is herself American, praised PlanPlus for its role in “challenging us to continually raise our financial planning standards”.
Regal holds the US Certified Financial Planner designation, and is licensed to give financial advice by the Singapore Monetary Authority as well as the US Securities & Exchange Commission.
