Ho comes to BlackRock from Barclays Bank, where she has been managing director and co-head of senior relationship management, overseeing the firm’s “platinum” client relationships in Asia Pacific since 2012. She will continue to be based in Singapore.
Prior to joining Barclays in 2012, she was chief executive of DBS Asset Management in Singapore, and before that, head of fixed income distribution for Asia (ex-Japan) at UBS. NWH Global, the multi-jurisdiction trust and corporate services provider, has promoted Guernsey-based Rob Bickley to group financial controller and head of IT, widening his remit to include the group’s offices around the world.
Bickley, pictured left, had been financial controller and client accountant at the company. A qualified certified accountant with 22 years post-qualification experience, he first joined the NWH Global in 2014, after working in accountancy roles. He has also worked as a freelance IT consultant.
In a statement announcing his promotion, NWH said Bickley’s dual expertise in finance and IT systems would be key as the company continued its programme of “investment and upgrading” of its systems.
NWH Global is the rebranded private client business of what was formerly Newhaven Trust, part of the Newhaven Group, which was founded in the 1980s in pre-handover Hong Kong. NWH Global now has outposts in the BVI, Dubai, Mauritius and New Zealand, in addition to Hong Kong and Guernsey.
Pension Protection Fund
The Pension Protection Fund, which functions as the lifeboat for failed UK pension schemes, has named Oliver Morley to succeed Alan Rubenstein as chief executive, effective on 19 March. Rubenstein is leaving the PPF after eight years as its chief executive.
Morley comes to the PPF from the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency, where he had been CEO since 2013, according to a statement announcing his appointment to the PPF. He was awarded a CBE in the 2017 New Year honours for his Public Sector Digital Services work, the statement noted.
Prior to taking up his DVLA post, Morley was Keeper of The National Archives, and before that, worked at Thomson Reuters in a range of roles, including global head of sales operations.
According to the PPF, “more than 120,000 people now receive compensation” from the organisation, after their pension schemes failed, “and hundreds of thousands more will do so in the future”.
Carey Olsen Jersey
Chris Griffin, who joined Carey Olsen’s Jersey office as a senior associate in 2011 before being promoted to counsel in 2016, has been named a partner of the law firm. Griffin, pictured left, advises on all aspects of corporate transactions, including the legal and regulatory aspects of fund launches and other bespoke investment structures, Carey Olsen said in announcing his promotion.
Recently, it said, he has played a key role in developing the firm’s digital assets practice, including leading the firm’s Jersey team as it advised ARC Fiduciary on the legal and regulatory aspects of its initial coin offering, working closely with the Jersey Financial Services Commission in the process.
Prior to joining Carey Olsen, Griffin had spent 10 years working in the City of London as a corporate and funds lawyer for Ashurst, RAB Capital plc and SJ Berwin.
