Waverton targets US expats with new launch

SEC-regulated investment company Waverton Investment Management has launched a new portfolio service, specifically design for US expats.

Waverton is launching a range of three portfolios to meet growth, balanced and cautious investment objectives and risk profiles, that can be accessed via UK and international financial advisers, the company said in a statement announcing the launch.

The mandates will adhere to an investment process which adopts “a global approach” to equity and bond selection, the company said. The mandates will be managed by a variety of “investment professionals with experience of managing money for US clients” and proven expertise in managing portfolios through multiple market cycles, Waverton said.

Registered with the SEC since 2002, Waverton said that it is one of the few non-US investment institutions in London to be able to work with US citizens.  The three new portfolios – Growth (75% equities, 25% bonds), Balanced (60% equities, 40% bonds) and Cautious (45% equities, 55% bonds). the

The portfolios are in addition to Waverton’s existing bespoke discretionary fund management services, it said.

Andrew Vaughan-Payne, pictured above, a director in the private client team at Waverton, said: “We have a long and established history of working with US clients, having served foreign trusts with US beneficiaries, US persons with offshore trusts and US expats for over twenty years.

“We have decided to provide a solution for clients with portfolios from £250,000 to meet a growing demand for this type of service.

“This launch offers access to our tried and tested investment management at a lower entry level, supported by fully compliant tax reporting.” 

The minimum investment in the portfolios is £250,000 or US$350,000, and the service is also available for US expats living in the Far East, Continental Europe and the Middle East.

Waverton is FATCA compliant and a registered Foreign Financial Institution.

The portfolios are custodied with Praemium International Limited who will provide clients with US compliant tax reporting. The Waverton Annual Management Charge is 0.50%.

In addition, there are separately calculated charges for the Praemium platform services and the financial advisor’s services, available upon request.
