EXCLUSIVE: Wells leaves Schroders Middle East after 24 years
Schroders Middle East’s William Wells has announced that he is leaving his post as director, Middle East, after 24 years in the role.
International Investment can reveal that Wells – a well known figure across the Gulf region – has written to clients and colleagues announcing the move stating that it is time for him to “take a well-earned break” and make plans for the “next phase” of his career.
Over the last 14 years, Wells, pictured left, has been “instrumental” as Schroders built its business in the Middle East from its Dubai base in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), which he helped open in 2007.
Wells who is set to leave his post as a director, Middle East for Schroders said in his departing note to clients that he will be basing himself in the UK for the foreseeable future, International Investment understands.
Despite writing to notify clients of his departure at the weekend, Wells’ LinkedIn profile still has him listed as director, Middle East at Schroders (Dubai).
It is understood that Nisarg Trivedi and Sophia Lerche-Thomsen of Schroder’s DIFC based intermediary sales team will look after clients in the region following Wells departure.
A spokesperson for Schroders told International Investment: “We can confirm William Wells is leaving. We are committed to the Middle East market and will be adding to our team. We should be in a position to share more on this in the summer.”
