Malta funds industry comes to New York

Finance Malta will host an event on 30 March in New York to outline the local jurisdictional opportunities for foreign asset managers seeking to use the island as a route into the local pensions and broader EU funds market.

Taking place through the morning and early afternoon at the Convene Conference Centre, 730 3rd Avenue, the event is being offered in collaboration with the Malta Funds Industry Association (MFIA) and the Malta Association of Retirement Scheme Practitioners.

The key event is being billed as a discussion of “Malta’s value proposition for asset managers targeting European business” – an overview that will be introduced by Kenneth Farrugia, chairman of FinanceMalta.

On the agenda are also:

  • James Farrugia, partner at Ganado Advocates – discussing passporting models and structures of regulated vehicles under regimes such as AIFMD
  • Alistair Evans, CEO of Argentarius ETI UK Ltd – on options for securitisation vehicles for Ucits and AIFs
  • Matthew Brincat, senior associate, Insurance & Pensions at Ganado Advocates and general secretary of the Malta Association of Retirement Scheme Practitioners – covering business in Malta’s pensions system

There will also be a panel discussion on the opportunities for structuring pension products in Malta, which besides Brincat will include Bethell Codrington, global head of Pensions, TMF Group, and John Sullivan, director of Tax Services, KPMG Malta
