Sean Kelly also joins Copia’s investment team as a quantitative research analyst from Imperial College where he recently completed his Masters in Investment and Wealth Management. He will support Hoshang Daroga, Copia’s quantitative investment manager, who has been managing the portfolios since June 2015.

Andy Adshead has also joined Copia as retirement relationship manager. Adshead has 23 years’ industry experience and joins from MetLife.

The Copia Core Range has also changed its name to Volatility Focus range – whilst the portfolio objectives remain unchanged.

New products

Copia also unveils its new Select portfolio range, a set of five multi-asset portfolio optimised for different levels of risk-return expectations. Further ranges are in development with a focus on income and pensions freedoms.

In the joint statement, Novia Financial separately confirmed its intention to offer fractional dealing, which it says will help drive down affordability and enable choice for advisers and managers that offer ETF portfolios to their clients. The current target for this change is the end of the year.

Bill Vasilieff, chief Novia Financial, said: “We are delighted to mark Copia’s three-year milestone with this significant investment of resource. We want to create a discretionary manager that is clearly differentiated by its focus on client outcomes, its use of quantitative investment techniques and its deployment of cost-efficient ETFs to help clients meet their goals.”
