PEOPLE MOVES: T Rowe Price, Sanlam FOUR, Fulcrum

T Rowe Price

T Rowe Price, the Baltimore, Maryland-based, globally-active asset manager, has named Maria Elena Drew to head up its Responsible Investing research operations, out of its London offices.

The role is a new one, and reflects T Rowe Price’s “commitment to [the] incorporation of environmental, social and governance considerations” in its investment research process, the company said in a statement announcing Drew’s appointment. The company is already a signatory to such responsible investing initiatives globally as Investor CDP, the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, and the UK Investor Forum.

Drew comes to T Rowe Price from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she worked for nine years as an equity analyst, portfolio manager and ESG specialist, T Rowe said. Prior to this, she worked in various research analyst roles for around 11 years. She is a graduate of Smith College in the US.

In her new role, Drew will partner with Donna Anderson, the company’s head of corporate governance, and work closely with its investment teams “to develop and integrate an ESG framework across geographies and asset classes”, T Rowe said.

It noted that ESG considerations are increasingly important to many of the firm’s clients and prospects.

She reports to Rob Sharps, group chief investment officer and co-head of Global Equity.

Sanlam FOUR

Sanlam FOUR, the boutique investment management arm of Sanlam UK, has named Alexandra Dacres-Hogg to the role of sales manager of its distribution team, a new position.

Dacres-Hogg will be based in Sanlam FOUR’s London headquarters, where she will be responsible for overseeeing UK sales to the wholesale market, and will report to Sanlam FOUR sales director Liz Adnitt.

The appointment follows the transfer earlier this year of Sanlam’s Strategic Bond Fund to the boutique, which expanded its funds range.

Dacres-Hogg comes from M&G, where she was a client relationship manager, working with discretionary investors across the UK.  She begun her career in the investment industry at Rathbone Unit Trust Management.

In a statement, Adnitt said the addition of Dacres-Hogg to the Sanlam FOUR team would enable the company to continue to “boost the visibility” of its products across the UK.

Sanlam FOUR is a part of Sanlam UK, the British arm of the South Africa based, Johannesburg and Namibia stock exchanges-listed Sanlam Group.

Fulcrum Asset Management

Fulcrum Asset Management, another London-based boutique,  has appointed Marc Semaan to the role of multi-asset strategist.

It wasn’t immediately known who, if anyone, he succeeded.

Prior to joining Fulcrum, Semaan held a similar role with Aviva Investors’ AIMS team. Among his other previous roles during his 10-year career was macro strategist at Friends Life Investments, where he built a global macro research structure to support the company’s fixed income teams, and  global macro research analyst at Brandywine Global Investment Management, Fulcrum said in a statement announcing his appointment.
