Ex-French PM joins Tikehau Capital as partner

François Fillon, a former prime minister of France and candidate of right-wing party Les Républicains at the last French presidential election, is set to join the Paris-based asset management group Tikehau Capital as partner.

Fillon, who was defeated in the first round of the presidential election and faced a tough campaign, will take up his duties on 1 September, the company said in a statement.

Tikehau Capital, which has been listed on Euronext Paris since March, added that Fillon’s international experience and his strong knowledge of French and European economic issues would be advantages that would help to drive Tikehau’s growth.

The asset management group has plans to manage more than €20bn in assets by 2020 and to expand itself globally, especially in Europe and North America.

Tikehau Capital, which has recently welcomed a number of new shareholders — including AXA Investment Management — through share capital increases, has said it is considering opportunities for external growth in several strategies in France and abroad.

Tikehau Capital was established in 2004, and currently manages assets totalling nearly €10bn (£9.2bn, US$11.8bn).
