AXA IM launches investment course
Secrets of the fund management world have been made available to both advisers and investors in a new online training course.
AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has joined forces with financial education firm HEC Paris to create a course designed to boost financial knowledge and test out a series of fund management techniques.
The ‘massive open online course’ (MOOC) system is now live and available on the Coursera online platform under the ‘investment management in an evolving and volatile world’ modules.
The MOOC covers four modules: how to define investment objectives; how to build an investment solution; specific portfolio management techniques; how to select or become a fund manager. AXA IM said that the modules have been designed to help people gain “a stronger understanding of the investment world” and what impact it can have on their lives.
Enhance financial education
Andrea Rossi, chief executive at AXA IM, said that the firm is trying to enhance financial education in what she believes is “a constantly changing and complex world where individuals must make more and more financial decisions in their everyday lives”.
AXA IM helped design the course with tips and input from Elodie Laugel, deputy global head of institutional client group, Stephanie Condra, retirement market strategist, Marion Le Morhedec, senior fund manager, and Maxime Alimi, senior economist at AXA IM.
The course combines asset management theory with real life examples from financial markets to explain how the investment industry works as part of the larger financial sector.
More than 170,000 applications were received for the first Coursera MOOCs and Peter Todd, dean of HEC Paris, us hoping for similar results with this new launch. “We believe that this MOOC can help a large number of people have a better understanding of the investment industry and how it can impact their everyday life,” he said.
The course offers two options, one that is free and available to all, and a second that offers the option of obtaining a certificate upon successful completion of an online exam for US$70. The MOOC is available in English and also with subtitles in French and Chinese.
