April Int’l names Mandy Dicksee in biz development move

April International, the UK-based international arm of the Lyon, France-based, Euronext-listed April insurance group, said it has named Mandy Dicksee to the newly created post of business development manager, as it looks to ramp up its business in the international iPMI marketplace.

Dicksee will be based in April International’s London offices, the company said in a statement.

Dicksee comes to April from Hong Kong-based Now Health International, where she had been operations manager of its European business. Her more than 20 years of experience in the international private medical insurance industry also has included a stint as corporate account manager at BUPA Global.

April International business development director Joe Thomas said the company’s ambition was “to become a global platform, combining expertise and proximity to the client through our network of worldwide offices”, and that Dicksee would play an “important” role in making this vision a reality.

“We are confident that [our] service- and knowledge-led approach will [enable] April International to become the most recommended gateway for clients to access high quality international private medical care,” he added.

Founded 28 years ago by Bruno Rousset and Xavier Coquard, April International has been expanding its footprint internationally over the last five years, beginning with its acquisition of UK-based MediCare International. It was this business which, re-branded in 2015 as April International UK.

As reported, it acquired Hong Kong-based GlobalHealth Asia last year, which immediately gave it a presence in such key markets as Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Shanghai.

Today April has operations in 33 different countries, looking after close to 6 million policyholders worldwide, consisting of some 86 different nationalities located in more than 120 countries. It employs around 250 staff members who work out of 13 offices.
