Allianz Worldwide Care unveils plan for expats in Switzerland

Allianz Worldwide Care, the Allianz insurance group’s international health insurance company, is introducing a range of expat health insurance plans for groups and individuals in Switzerland, in partnership with local health insurance provider KPT and Allianz Global Assistance.

Like a growing number of countries, Switzerland requires all its residents to have health insurance, whether they’re locals or expatriates, but individuals may choose their insurer from more than 50 that cater to this market.

In a statement unveiling its new product, Allianz said its new Suisse International Healthcare Plan would provide clients with a “one stop shop” for their health insurance needs.

The new plans are described as being particularly well-suited to the expat lifestyle in that they are designed for those who wish to be covered both domestically and internationally by a single plan, Allianz said.

This, it noted, might include “global organisations with teams based inside and outside of Switzerland, as well as Swiss nationals expatriated abroad and foreign residents in Switzerland, both of [which groups] may travel frequently”.

The new plans include cashless access to treatments “at a wide range of inpatient and day-care facilities”; “comprehensive oncology cover”, medical evacuation coverage, and provisions for semi-private and private rooms.

Clients have the option of signing up to optional outpatient, dental, maternity and repatriation coverage, Allianz said.

Allianz Worldwide Partners board member Ida Luka Lognoné noted that partnerships with local organisations, such as, in this case, KPT, “have allowed us to create a tremendous proposition that combines the strength of our international reach with the reassurance of local know-how”.

Allianz said the new range is being made available exclusively through licenced brokers in Switzerland.

Allianz Worldwide Care was launched in 2000, and is based in Dublin. It is part of the giant, Munich-based Allianz SE group, founded in 1890 and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
