Aberdeen appoints new head of insurance
Aberdeen Asset Management has named James Hughes head of insurance solutions.
The newly-created position will see Hughes, pictured, working within Aberdeen’s investment products business to build “bespoke and pooled multi-asset solutions for insurance clients”, Aberdeen said in a statement. He will report to Archie Struthers, global head of investment solutions, Aberdeen said.
Hughes comes to Aberdeen from Gottex Asset Management, where he had been managing director of multi-asset solutions. Prior to that he spent eight years at HSBC as group chief investment officer of its HSBC Insurance operation.
Struthers said Aberdeen was “delighted” to have Hughes on its insurance solutions team, and that his experience and expertise would complement that of the company’s existing staff, while also ensuring that the company’s insurance clients would be well provided for, “with the bespoke investment solutions they require”.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, Aberdeen Asset Management is listed on the London Stock Exchange, where it is a constituent member of the FTSE 100.
