Isle of Man Department for Enterprise
The Isle of Man Department for Enterprise has confirmed Aidan Doherty as non-executive chair and Michael Crowe as chief executive to lead the Finance Isle of Man Executive Agency.

Finance Isle of Man is responsible for promoting and developing the island’s financial and professional services industry, ensuring its recognition as an international financial centre of excellence, in turn delivering long term sustainable economic growth for the island.

Doherty’s career in the financial services industry has spanned more than 40 years, the majority of them in the Isle of Man, having moved there in 1984.

Crowe is currently a director at Grant Thornton. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the former president of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce and former chair of the Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants. He has spent 27 years working on the island with a wide variety of local clients and organisations of all sizes, covering all sectors of the local economy.

Laurence Skelly, minister for enterprise, said: “I welcome Aidan and Michael to the Department and look forward to their knowledge and experience guiding the Agency in attracting new enterprise, boosting local businesses and securing a positive future for our strong ecosystem of financial and professional services here in the Isle of Man.”

Willis Towers Watson has announced the appointment of Ken Brown as head of its Insurance Consulting and Technology (ICT) business in Asia Pacific.

Brown will take up his new role with immediate effect. He his role as divisional leader for ICT South Asia and Emerging Markets, where he is Ms. Oi San Choo. Both Brown and Choo are based in Singapore.

Brown joined Willis Towers Watson in 2016 and has more than 30 years insurance industry and leadership experience with companies such as Aon Re, ACE Insurance and EY.

During his time at ACE, he was chief operating officer for Australia and New Zealand, CEO for Singapore and Chairman for New Zealand. He oversaw P&C, Life and A&H business sectors and was actively involved in M&A across the region.

Choo joined Willis Towers Watson in 2008 and was previously the leader for ICT South East Asia. She has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry and is a recognized leader in the actuarial profession, having served as president of the Singapore Actuarial Society from 2014 to 2016.

Tilney
Wealth management group Tilney has hired Catherine Davies in the newly created role of head of talent, resourcing and development to support the business in attracting, assessing, recruiting, inducting, training and developing current and future colleagues. Catherine will report to Gaynor Gillespie, group HR director and be based in the company’s Mayfair office.

Catherine started her career in Financial Planning as a Branch Manager for Abbey National prior to moving into PR & Media Relations for the bank. She then moved into recruitment consultancy which led to her becoming the HR Director of an SME which more than doubled in size during her tenure.

In 2005 she set up her own Interim business and has spent the last 13 years helping companies to consider – or often reconsider – their approach to people-related challenges. The companies she worked with ranged in size from nine people to over 80,000.

Over her career, she has worked across various sectors, geographies and size of companies including Barclaycard, BAT, Bovis Lend Lease, Coller Capital, Imperial Brands, NEX Finance, Shawbrook Bank and Wolseley UK.

Commenting on the appointment, Gaynor Gillespie said: “Tilney has cemented itself as one of the leading wealth managers in the industry and is fully committed to investing in our employees.
