People Moves: BYN Mellon, VAM, Citi, Lombard Odier IM

BYN Mellon
BNY Mellon has appointed Robert Rushe as European ETF segment executive. Based in Dublin, Ireland, he reports to Jeff McCarthy, chief executive officer, Exchange Traded Funds.

In his role as European ETF executive, Rushe will lead and execute the long-term growth in BNY Mellon’s European ETF platform. He will play a vital role in delivering enterprise-wide ETF solutions to the marketplace to support continued regional growth of the ETF segment.

Rushe joins from State Street, where he was managing director and EMEA head of Exchange Traded Fund Servicing. Prior to seven years at State Street, he spent 12 years at Bank of Ireland and Northern Trust.

VAM

VAM has announced the appointment of well-known industry expert David Cockerton as group development director. Cockerton initially joined the VAM Group earlier this year as a senior adviser, working to expand its existing business across the Middle East as part of the company’s continued growth strategy.

In addition to the Middle East, Cockerton will now take on global responsibilities across all VAM Group’s business interests.

Reporting into David Macdonald, group sales & marketing director, Cockerton will now be responsible for the group development of VAM’s three businesses: distributing VAM Funds, the Mauritius Administration and Trust Company (‘MATCO’) and VAM Global Management Company in Luxembourg.

Cockerton previously held several senior global positions with Zurich before leaving the insurance giant after 23 years of developing relationships across the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Prior to his departure, her played a pivotal role in Zurich’s announcement of an exclusive distribution agreement with Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE and Bahrain.

Citi
Citi Private Bank has announced the appointment of Steven Lo as the regional head of Asia. He succeeds Bassam Salem, who will be retiring in February 2018.

Based in Hong Kong, Lo will report jointly to Peter Charrington, global head, and Francisco Aristeguieta, CEO of Citi Asia Pacific.

Lo is currently the global market manager of Hong Kong since 2010. He joined Citi Private Bank 26 years ago as an ultra-high-net-worth banker in Vancouver, focusing on clients in North America and Asia.

He later moved to New York as a banker, and then to Asia in 2001 and became the global market manager of Thailand. Lo is also a founding member and director of the Private Wealth Management Association in Hong Kong and a member of the Hong Kong Country Executive Committee.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers
Lombard Odier Investment Managers has announced the appointment of Robert Schlichting as head of institutional sales for Germany and Austria, and Frank Stefes as head of third Party distribution sales for Germany and Austria.

Schlichting joins Lombard Odier IM from Deutsche Asset Management, where he was head of institutional sales, Germany. He reports to Jonathan Clenshaw, Lombard Odier IM’s head of institutional sales for Europe. Schlichting also previously held positions with Neuberger Berman, Schroders, BlackRock, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and JP Morgan Asset Management.

Frank Stefes has been with Lombard Odier IM since 2010 and has overseen the firm’s business development in Germany and Austria over the last seven years. Stefes reports to Martin Thommen, head of third party distribution sales for Europe.
