BlackRock names new heads for Americas biz, alternatives, EMEA and European ETF ops
BlackRock, the US fund management giant, has named new heads for its alternatives business and ETF operations in US and Europe, and shuffled a number of other roles in the process.
Named to head up the Americas region was Mark McCombe, who takes over responsibility for driving the growth of BlackRock’s businesses in the US, Canada and Latin America as well as Iberia (Spain and Portugal).
McCombe previously was chairman and global head of BlackRock Alternative Investors, global head of BlackRock’s institutional client Business and chairman of the company’s Asia Pacific region.
McCombe’s Alternative Investors role has been assumed by David Blumer, who came to BlackRock four years ago from Credit Suisse Asset Management, and who has led Blackrock’s business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa over the past four years.
Taking Blumer’s place as head of the EMEA region is Rachel Lord, who, for the past four years until now, has led BlackRock’s fast-growing iShares exchange traded fund business in Europe.
Like McCombe, she will also join BlackRock’s global executive committee.
Succeeding her in BlackRock’s European iShares role is Stephen Cohen.
